Description

The Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) is improving the health of millions of people with common diseases like asthma and arthritis. We drive innovation in experimental science and translate research into breakthrough treatments, new technologies and advanced medicines.

At the heart of the Nottingham BRC is our internationally renowned expertise in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

Our world-leading research is in:

  • hearing
  • gastrointestinal and liver diseases
  • musculoskeletal diseases
  • mental health and technology
  • respiratory diseases
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging  – which supports all areas of research

The BRC strengthens Nottingham’s position as a leading city for research and innovation, bringing together world-leading scientists in a partnership hosted by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust with the University of Nottingham and supported by Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Public involvement in research

Nottingham has been a leader in Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) in research for many years. Our work with people affected by hearing loss, with arthritis, respiratory diseases, mental health and technology, as well as our involvement of young people, is recognised in the UK and internationally.

As part of the Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), we continue to put people at the heart of the research that we do. We want to ensure that your involvement makes a meaningful difference. We need to learn from you and share that knowledge so that we can be sure our research is solving the problems that people with some of the most common illnesses currently experience.
